Mouse Ears

Planning a trip to Disneyland, or Disneyworld?
Give your doll or action figure the perfect souvenir!

supplies:

  •    Black Felt

  •    Black Fun Foam (sheet foam)

  •    Scissors

  •    Round foam or plastic ball slightly larger than figures head

  •    Wax Paper

  •    Rubber Band (med sized)

  •    Straight Pins (at least 4)

  •    Water

  •    Elmer's Glue

  •    Super Glue

  •    Paper Towels & a Blow Dryer are helpful

Step One:

Tightly wrap the Wax paper around the Foam or Plastic Ball.

Mix some water and Elmer's glue together.
This will allow the felt to be shaped as desired & then stiffen as it dries.

Dunk a piece of felt in the water mixture getting it completely wet

Place over the ball and pin two edges down near the underside of the ball

Place another pin at just about the halfway point on the ball

Double over the rubber band until it goes snugly over the felt holding it tightly in place on the ball, using the pin at the halfway point to help hold the rubber band in place.

Add another pin at the halfway point opposite the existing one and holding the rubber band in place.

Add two more pins (or you can move the ones from the bottom now) to hold down two more sides of the rubber band down

pull the felt snug so that the material lies smooth along the top of the ball all the way down to the edge of the rubber band

once the felt is in place squeeze off excess water and allow to dry overnight
OR use paper towel to help absorb excess moisture and use a blow dryer to dry

Step Two:

Once dry remove pins and rubber band and take felt off from the ball
(if you used the blow dryer method the inside of the hat might be damp - blow dry if necessary)

Trim off excess felt at the rubber band line, this is the completed cap portion

Step Three:

The Ears....Trim foam into desired size and shape (or buy the correct size pre cut).

Give the ears a slightly concave edge at the bottom so that it sits smoothly against the cap.

Glue in desired position using super glue (this is tricky but easier than trying to sew it in place.

Mickey Ears are now complete, add a polka dot bow to complete ears for Mini.

TA-DA!!! Your done.
