Paint:
Arm yourself with some good brushes, and various colors of acrylic paints. Paint can transform monochrome plastic items. It can change that drab pink item into something highly detailed and worthy of diorama display.
Here you can see what a difference adding black handles to the utensils and changing the knob color on the toaster can make. The pink layers in the cake bring out the detail in the plain white portion of the cake. And the pink bathroom scale looks like a completely different item with just a little bit of time and some paint.

Wash items with a mild dish soap before painting

Some larger items like furniture or anything with a large smooth surface
may need a light sanding first. -
Fusion spray paint also works pretty well on large uniform color items
(like cars!)

into the doll world.

A Cell Phone Caddy
Found it at a Clair's jewelry and
accessory type shop.
Chriss fits perfectly and has added it to her bedroom furniture
collection.

(an 8 inch figure) found the chair
quite comfortable too!
Actually it was difficult
getting the chair
away from him again - he threatened to
sever a few fingers. DH had to convince him
that green floral print wasn't really his taste.
Scrap Book Supplies
I picked up these great picture frames in the
scrap book section of my local craft store.
They are each about about an inch wide. They had other sizes that
would still work well depending on the use. So go check out
your scrap-booking section of your local store and see what you find
of interest.
Refrigerator Magnets
I picked up the basket of vegetables at my local grocery store and the bags of groceries I ordered from an online store.
I've had lots of people tell me that they have
found magnet items that work great in doll scale. I've seen
Phones (pay phones and desk phones), Fax machines, Blenders,
Toasters, Bathroom Scales, and many other items.
Novelty Picture Frames
Okay when I found these at an art supply store, I
went completely crazy!
The Chairs are fabric with just a clear vinyl pouch sewn to the back
for a photo insert.
They came in a variety of styles!
The first set I bought at full price.
When I went back to get a set for a friend they were on sale!
CLEARANCE SALE!!!! I bought everything they had in
stock.
